Port Stephens Wedding Part 2 | Tamara & James

Tamara & James finally got the photoshoot that was always meant to be. After Covid postponing their wedding, not once, but TWICE, it was third time lucky. They were getting married, rain, hail or shine - and rain it did! It was torrential, with no breaks in the rain to duck outside.

So, a couple of weeks after their wedding at the amazing Port Stephens venue (see those photos here), The Anchorage, I met with James and Tamara to take some gorgeous sunset beach photos. They got dressed up again (what a bonus, Tamara got to wear her gorgeous Grace Loves Lace gown for a second time!) and Tamara did a fabulous job doing her own hair and makeup.

We were blessed with everything during this shoot: incredible golden light, a stunning sunset (look at those colours) and some dolphins even came out to play, all capped off perfectly with a beautiful big moon. The moonlight shimmering on the water was perfection!

These two had been through so much to get to their wedding day, but always managed stay so positive despite everything that was thrown at them. I was so glad to be able to do this shoot for them as a little addition to the beautiful indoor/under cover portraits we got on their wedding day. They absolutely deserved it!

The Anchorage Port Stephens Wedding | Tamara & James

Third time lucky…mostly.

Tamara and James waited so long for their special day. Their wedding plans were halted in 2020 by Covid, with NSW implementing the 5 person limit on weddings less than four days before their original wedding. They rescheduled their special day, only to have Covid see them need to postpone their wedding for a SECOND time, choosing to delay their special day AGAIN to ensure they could have their family and friends with them to celebrate. Throughout all of this, Tamara handled everything with grace and poise.

Finally, on their third attempt, the wedding day was here. Rain, hail or shine, Tamara and James were FINALLY getting married. And rain it did! They say rain on your wedding day brings you luck. Well, these two had certainly had their share of bad luck, and now “luck” poured down on them.

Their outdoor ceremony on the waterfront at the gorgeous Anchorage in Port Stephens was moved indoors. The venue was stunning, and all of their guests squeezed in along with the string duo. Stunning floral arrangements by A Beautiful Occasion were the perfect addition to create a gorgeous backdrop for their ceremony.

Surrounded by the family and loved ones that were so important to them, Julie Muir delivered the perfect ceremony, with laughs, tears and a whole lot of love. And let’s not forget, the fishing reel in lieu of a wedding band.

With no break in the weather, we headed to The Anchorage’s gorgeous bar and other undercover areas for a few pictures, before rejoining their guests. There was live music throughout their reception, with a vey special performance from Tamara’s brother.

The whole day was filled with so much love and the importance of family was clearly felt, right down to the wedding cake - a collection of cakes made by family and friends.

I couldn’t have been happier to see these two finally get their special day after all their waiting. However, after all they’d been through (and the weather being so perfect for their first two dates), it didn’t seem right for Tamara and James to miss getting their beach photos. I was so excited they accepted our offer to meet a couple of weeks later for a wedding session on the beach.

Hunter Valley Wedding | Andy & Ellen

Andy & Ellen’s wedding was at the beautiful Redwood Park in Wollombi. What a superb venue! Ellen and her bridesmaids stayed on site and got ready in the Barnstay, a beautifully renovated 140 year old barn. Their ceremony was held on the grounds of Redwood Park, followed by photos and their reception in the Woodhouse, a gorgeous timber building purpose built for weddings and events.

This wedding was extra special for me, having known both Ellen and Andy since before they were “Ellen & Andy”, and Andy since he was a baby.

Ellen’s dad walked her down the aisle and there wasn’t a dry eye. Then Ellen and Andy were married by Ellen’s uncle as friends and family watched on, followed by canapés and lawn games while enjoying the beautiful music from acoustic guitarist, Georgie James. Then it was off for some photos (and many, many laughs), before heading to their reception to dance the night away.

These two make each other so happy and it was such a special day for them and their families. The exceptional attention to detail and personal touches created a wedding that was truly ‘them’, right down to the designer cocktails for the evening, the “Ellen’ and “Andy”.

Congratulations, you two. You deserve all the happiness in the world x
